Support a Bill to Ban Elephant & Great Ape Captivity in Canada

A new federal bill aims to protect elephants and great apes—chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans—from being kept in captivity. The proposed law is a tremendous step toward protecting these majestic animals from heartbreaking suffering in zoos and private homes, away from their diverse natural habitats. Senate Bill S-15 would:

• Restrict the import, breeding, and captivity of elephants and great apes

• Ban zoos from using elephants and great apes  in performances for entertainment

The proposed law offers hope for these creatures, ensuring they won’t be used and abused for entertainment. We’re also asking lawmakers to include big cats in the bill—animals with wide-ranging territories and complex needs, who simply cannot thrive in a cage or at a roadside zoo.

Take action today to show your support! Tell the Senate to swiftly pass Bill S-15, and expand it to protect big cats.
