During the recent federal election, Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party promised to ban the live export of horses for slaughter.
With the Liberals back in government, it's time to see this commitment through so that horses don't have to suffer through another winter of freezing cold temperatures and troubling conditions. During export, large draft horses are tightly-packed into containers so they can be flown to destinations like Japan and Korea to be slaughtered and eaten as a delicacy. Horses are denied, food, water, and adequate space on long, gruelling flights. It’s common for horses to be injured and even die.
Please ask Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister of Agriculture Marie-Claude Bibeau to make horses an immediate priority in the new Parliament, and ban horse exports as quickly as possible.
