Boogie is a Japanese macaque monkey who is kept alone in a barren enclosure at Bervie Zoo, a roadside zoo in Kincardine, Ontario. Boogie spends her days pacing back and forth, spinning in circles, and biting herself—signs indicating severe mental distress from confinement.
Animal Justice has visited the zoo and filmed Boogie’s suffering three years in a row. Despite filing multiple legal complaints with authorities, Boogie remains in a small, lonely cage. Boogie deserves to be sent to a sanctuary like Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary, in Sunderland, Ontario—which is already home to an olive baboon seized from Bervie in 2022.
Boogie’s situation is dire, and she doesn’t deserve to wait any longer. Please call on provincial Animal Welfare Services to send Boogie to sanctuary right away!
