Don't Let Loblaws Abandon Millions of Caged Hens!
It's 2025 and Loblaws is still responsible for the cruel confinement of millions of egg-laying hens in tiny, filthy cages. After immense public pressure in 2016, Canada's grocery giant promised to only source 100% cage-free eggs by 2025, and boasted about this commitment to shareholders for years.
But after announcing they needed more time back in 2021, Loblaws now plans to sell eggs from so-called “enriched” cages for one of their own brands instead of sharing a new timeline for ending the use of horrific cages.
Hundreds of companies around the world are following through on their cage-free promises, and many regions have even passed laws banning all cages. Every year, Canadian grocers lag farther behind their peers in the US and Europe. Join us in demanding that Loblaws keeps its promise to go cage-free.
