Quebec is turning a blind eye to the suffering of animals on fur farms—and we need your help to stop it. Government documents obtained by the Montreal SPCA reveal what we've known all along: fur farming is inherently cruel and likely violates Quebec’s own animal protection laws. Government officials have admitted since 2022 that cramming minks and foxes into tiny wire cages is inhumane and fails to meet the animals' basic needs.
This is a critical moment. The government's own experts have stated that now is the perfect time to ban the practice—noting that nearly 90% of Quebec's fur farms have already closed and a complete ban would have "zero economic consequences." Animal Justice and The Fur-Bearers have now filed a lawsuit to hold the government accountable for this inaction and to protect the animals who continue to suffer on fur farms.
Foxes, minks, and other fur-bearing animals belong in the wild, not confined in cages and killed for their fur.
