Marineland Permits: Demand ‘No Breeding’ Guarantees for Exports of Whales & Dolphins

The Canadian government is granting “conditional approval” for Marineland to send 30 belugas and four dolphins to several US aquariums, after Marineland threatened to execute them if their demands weren't met.

Canadian law bans the breeding of whales, and exports are only allowed if they are in the best interests of each individual animal.

Urge the Fisheries Minister to require a health assessment of each whale and dolphin, and ensure that if export permits are issued, there are strong “no breeding” conditions. This generation of animals must be the last in captivity—they should not be forced to bring offspring into the misery of life inside a tank.
